Confidence scores
Every classification carries a confidence score — how sure InboxAgent is about its read of the email, shown as a percentage with a colored dot in Inbox activity and on email details.
Reading the score
- High (85%+) — a clear-cut email; the AI is confident.
- Medium (60–84%) — a reasonable read with some ambiguity.
- Low (below 60%) — genuinely uncertain.
The colors mirror those bands, so you can scan a list and spot the shaky calls at a glance.
What the score drives
Confidence is the fuel for your routing mode: below your chosen bar, an email is sent to review instead of being acted on automatically. Cautious mode demands 90%+, Balanced 75%+, Automatic 50%+. That’s the whole trade: a higher bar means fewer mistakes and more review work; a lower bar means the reverse.
Why some emails show exactly 100%
A score of 100% means the outcome was decided deterministically, not guessed — a noise filter skipped it, one of your rules fired, a thread was already known, or a person re-classified it. Read 100% as “decided by rule or human”, not “the AI was extremely impressed with itself”.
When a score seems off
- Spot-check the AI’s own reasoning: open the email’s detail panel and expand “Why this classification”.
- One-off mistake? Re-classify it — corrections teach InboxAgent.
- Systematic pattern (e.g. a key customer’s mail always scraping by at 70%)? A rule or a sender label settles it permanently — deterministic beats hopeful.
