Routing modes: Cautious, Balanced, Automatic
Routing modes answer one question: how confident must InboxAgent be before it acts without you? Anything below the bar goes to Manual review for a person instead. Set it under Advanced → Routing thresholds (admins only).
The three modes
- Cautious — InboxAgent only acts when it’s at least 90% confident. More email comes to you for review; automatic mistakes become rare. Right for the first weeks, or when trust is still building.
- Balanced (recommended, and the default for new workspaces) — acts at 75%+ confidence. Clear-cut email is handled automatically; anything uncertain comes to review.
- Automatic — acts at 50%+ confidence (the minimum). The least email comes to review; you accept more risk of a misfiled edge case. Right once corrections have become rare.
Click a card and it applies immediately — no separate save.
What happens below the bar
An email under your threshold is always sent to review — even mail that looks like junk. In Cautious mode especially, expect some newsletters and notifications in your review queue: that’s the mode working as designed. If the queue is mostly noise, either loosen the mode or turn on the “Ignore newsletters & marketing” rule, which handles the pattern deterministically.
What the bar does NOT apply to
- Your rules. A matching rule decides outright, above or below any threshold.
- The noise filters. Bulk mail, auto-replies, and system senders are skipped before the AI runs, whatever the mode.
- Human actions. Re-classify and review resolutions are your call, always.
”Custom”
If the fine-tune sliders don’t match a preset exactly, the screen shows Custom instead of a selected card — see Fine-tune and the fast-path. Clicking any mode card snaps you back to that preset.
Choosing in practice
Start on Balanced. After a week, look at your review queue: mostly items InboxAgent actually got right? Consider Automatic. Seeing automatic mistakes reach your CRM or helpdesk? Step up to Cautious and correct them so InboxAgent learns before you loosen again.
